S.M.A.R.T stands for Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology, which is a built-in monitoring function for SSDs and hard drives. The features are very similar to the technology used in the traditional HDDs but with some differences specific to SSDs.

SMART is a technology that allows users to monitor the status of their devices, including the Firmware version, total and average program/erase cycle of NAND, the power-off cycles, the unexpected power sudden off cycle. With this SMART information, user can know the health status of the SSD, which makes user can replace the SSD when it has potential life cycle issues.

These parameters also include bad blocks, the temperature of the drive, and wear leveling count, and other indicators of drive health and performance. The features can analyze the health of the drive. The values can be used to assess the overall health of the SSD and predict any potential failures or issues. By monitoring the data, users and systems administrators can be altered to potential problems and take proactive measures to prevent data loss.

The attributes of S.M.A.R.T include:

1.Wear Leveling Count: This feature tracks the number of times to evenly distribute write operations across the drive’s memory cells.

2.PE Cycle Count: SSDs have a limited number of write cycles. This attribute tracks the number of programs and erases cycles the drive has undergone. It can monitor the number of programs and erase cycles the drive ling Count:

3.Temperature: SSDs monitor the temperature to prevent overheating as excessive heat can negatively impact performance and longevity.

4.Error Count: It can track the number of read or write errors that could not be corrected by error correction mechanisms.

5.Bad Block Count: This indicates the number of bad or unusable blocks on the SSD,

These are the specific features monitored by SSDs.
